HISTORY
History around Çandarli (Pitane) started 4000 years before Christ(B.C).People say Amazon women were the first to inhabit the area.Pitane was the first town to be established on the coast,then as the population grew it spread along the coastline .“Pitane” the name translate from “Queens Town” or “Women Town”.
If you look back into Çandarli's history,the inhabitants included Greeks,Romans,Bisantines and many old independant Turkish Nations.
In 1302 BC the Turks took over Çandarli when the Bisantines handed over the whole area.
WHAT WAS AN AMAZON
The Hitites were women warriors.They removed their right breast to allow for a better use of their bow and arrows.They were the first to use wild horses in battle,as they were superior horse riders.The women hunted and fought the battles while the men farmed and carried out other work.
History has not shown if these women had any type of family life.But it is known they had sex with male warriors from other tribes and if the child was male,it was sent to live with the father.If the child was female,she was trained as a future fighter.
Stabon Heredot and diotoros were writers of the time,and wrote varied versions about how Amazons came to Anotalia.Amazon Queen Myrina left her home land with her army to look for Atlantis.They landed in Greece but lost the battle for Helen,and while being transported by ship as prisoners,they escaped and killed the ship crew,sailing the ship into Agean and Black Seas.Landing on these coasts,they built towns called Kentler,Smyrina,Myrina,Mytilena,Elania,Anaia,Gryneia,Kyma,Pitana,Latoreia and Ephesos.
The Amazon Queen in Pitana worshipped the Goddes Kibele.We know this as many small statnes and idols have been found in this area.The word “Amazon” translates to “Breastless Woman Warrior”.

Çandarli is a peninsula which is surrounded by 3 seas on the east,South and west.Sea ,sun,winds and its wiew besides the coves and islands,it provides the experience of village life with city life together.With a wide range of local production,calm and quite environment,it is a very nice holiday and relaxation place.The tourism was started by the common people's movement to temporary residence nearby their field and rent their homes with belongings in long time ago.It was followed by building hotel,motel and restaurants in order to make commercial tourism.
